Mosquito borne disease campaign #1
The use of tailored language and imagery while retaining key messaging was exemplified in our redesign of a mosquito campaign launched by the Department of Health. Flooding over the warmer months of 2022-23 increased mosquito activity along the Murray River, elevating the risk of disease. The Department launched an awareness campaign to encourage mosquito safety, but it didn't successfully resonate, particularly within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
We were asked to recreate the communications materials and campaign to address this disconnect. We reworded the messaging, with a focus on simple, relatable language and redesigned the visuals for use across print, social and digital platforms.
Ultimately our versions were so well received that several organisations included them as part of their health prevention campaigns and the Department used them to highlight the value of contextualised communications.
